THE VAN PROJECT
In October 2021 I finally said ‘If Not Now Then When?’ to my latest life risk…a campervan conversion project! Say hello to my ex-police surveillance van; Vincent Van Go(gh). For me, the camper is more than just a design project, it’s a way to connect with my family. I decided to share this as I believe that if you have a dream or goal, you should go for it. You’ll regret not taking the risk more than if it goes wrong. Failure is where we learn the most. For me, it has always led to the most powerful, poignant, and meaningful moments in my life.
I’m so glad that I’m able to design the van with the input of my grandma who travelled across the world in a van for over 25 years alongside my grandad. Their favoured destination was Morocco and I’ve decided to incorporate this within the interiors scheme alongside more minimalistic Scandinavian influences. Her input is invaluable and it’s incredible that I have the chance to relive these memories with her.
The van means more to me than a vehicle for exploration as the process of working with family to make this dream a reality is also one of the most exciting parts. I believe this is true with everything we do, take a moment to reflect and enjoy the journey as this may often end up taking you down a path that you’d never thought was possible.
I worked with several experts, friends, family and everything in between to make this dream a reality and I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved – you know who you are.
