OXFORD BROOKES UNIVERSITY
INNTW is excited to have been invited by Oxford Brookes University to talk alongside Jay Osgerby for their ‘Creative Industries Festival 2021’.
‘Oxford Brookes Creative Industries Research and Innovation Network’ presented a month of virtual seminars, workshops and discussions which covered many vital issues facing today’s cultural creators. The Creative Industries Festival 2021 brought together practitioners, policy-makers and researchers from a range of sectors including music, film, the visual arts, and high-tech artificial intelligence.
INNTW was invited to take part in a discussion where we examined the opportunities for engagement with the creative industries. We chatted about how the industry could be developed for students and professionals to keep knowledge current. In addition, we talked about the ways in which we can co-create course content and expand professional skills through real-world experience. We also discussed topics such as ‘how can cultural activity recover from the long period of dormancy enforced by lockdown?’ ‘what kinds of relationships will audiences build with producers as culture shifts radically online?’ and ‘how can creative institutions respond to calls for greater diversity both in terms of their output and their workforce?’
